We are excited to receive in a very rare Colt revolver of the likes that will make a collector's mouth water. This is a Colt New Service Flat Top Target in, get this... .455 Eley caliber. The revolver is all original, uncut/unmodified cylinder with original 7.5" barrel, checkered front and rear grips straps, flat latch cylinder release, and factory checkered deluxe grips. The top of the frame is wide and flat with fixed rear sight, and the front sight is fully intact. What makes this revolver interesting is the period that it was shipped to England, the Company that received it, and the fact that it has a military lanyard ring on the butt. As you history buffs will remember, England declared war on Germany in August of 1914. This group of revolvers were shipped to London Armoury Company November 5, 1914 and is one of 19 shipped. London Armoury Company was the receiving agent for all Colt arms during WWI for military use. The revolver is correctly marked with the Crown/V proof on the appropriate parts, but there are no formal military markings that would indicate military use, other than a lanyard ring on the base of the butt and the timeline of the factory letter showing this revolver shipped after England's declaration of war on Germany. As for condition, the action is very smooth and lockup is tight. The bore is excellent, shiny, and crisp. The factory blued finish is somewhat mottled (splotchy) due to use and there are numerous spots of very light and shallow pitting on the surface of the metal. The shallow pitting is so light that you can hardly feel it to touch it. The good news is that this revolver is a perfect candidate for a professional Doug Turnbull restoration. There is a tiny, hard to read import mark under the barrel, DEAC (Downtown East Antique Collectibles) Amherst NH. It apparently was imported from Canada. The revolver comes with a full box of Canadian Industries Limited .455 Colt ammo, designed for English Government Service, and factory Colt letter. This is C&R friendly!
